I really like Till Death Do Us Part but not He Who Whispers. While it has interesting characters, I felt Carr's attempts to portray Fay as a vampire were pointless. Obviously, she isn't. So why all the futile theatrics. My bigger gripe is that while the identity of the murderer was a well-clued surprise, the murder method seemed far from realistic. I'm sure they could have thought of another way with a higher probability of success. I am always surprised that the plausibility of the murder method never comes up in reviews of this book. All that said, Carr is an excellent storyteller and that's why I keep returning to him. :)
I understand your gripe, though I'm willing to allow quite a lot from Carr in terms of plausibility (or lack thereof), just because he's such a good storyteller! Starting The Sleeping Sphinx tonight. Very intrigued by the blurb on the back of my copy...
Of these three I’ve only read Till Death Do Us Part, which I enjoyed. Carr is one of my blind spots, so I’m taking notes on your favorites, Adam!
He's an author that I'd like to one day read everything he's written. There will definitely be plenty more Carr reviews to come!

Ooh, I'll look up that blurb.
